We believe that the early years of a child’s life are crucial ones for learning trust, self-esteem, confidence and developing faith.  These are best learned in relationships with other children and with the cooperation of parents and guidance of gentle, loving teachers.

Mt. Pisgah Weekday School is a ministry of Mt. Pisgah Church.  Our doors first opened in 1976 with a Parent Morning Out class.  In 1980, we introduced a few more classes and today, we have grown to eight classes with over 100 families.

Please visit our FAQ page as well as the classroom highlights section to learn more about our program.

What geographic area do you serve?  Our families live throughout the county, with the majority living in Northern Greensboro and surrounding communities including Summerfield, Oak Ridge, and Browns Summit.

Which elementary schools do your students attend?  Our students attend most area public schools such as Summerfield, Claxton, Jesse Wharton, Oak Ridge, Pearce, Stokesdale, Northern, and Sternberger. Our students also attend charter and magnet schools, as well as private schools including Canterbury, Caldwell, Greensboro Day and St. Pius.

What is your drop-off/pick-up procedure? Families are greeted by a staff member each morning from 8:55 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. at the main school entrance located near our playground. Children are taken to their assigned classroom by parents/guardian where they are signed in and welcomed into the classroom by their teachers. For the safety of our children, school doors remain locked during school hours. Should you need to enter the school during those times, please press the call button located to the right of the entrance doors. All individuals are identified by security camera before being allowed to enter the school building. At dismissal, parents return to their child’s assigned class where children are released directly to their parents/guardians one by one.

What safety protocol do you follow? Mount Pisgah Church and the Weekday School follow Safe Sanctuary guidelines to ensure the physical safety and spiritual growth of children.  All staff and teachers complete training and have a signed copy on file.

Just a few highlights of Safe Sanctuary are:

1) Criminal background checking of all employees

2) CPR and First Aid training required of teachers

3) Minimum of two (2) adults supervising children

4) Church entrance doors remaining locked at all times (except during church services)

5) Rooms remaining visible either by peep holes, windows, or propped door

6) Random checking-in and classroom visiting by preschool administration

More information and the full Safe Sanctuary procedures and guidelines can be found at the link below.

What activities do you offer? In addition to normal classroom activities, Mt. Pisgah provides students music class, creative movement and chapel. Threes, Pre-K Fours and Pre-K Fives also attend Spanish class. Playground time offers active daily play.

Do parents provide snack/lunch, and how do you accommodate food allergies? Parents provide a light snack and lunch. We do all within our power to keep our students safe and healthy. If a child has a known food allergy, all parents of his/her classmates are made aware and are provided with a suggested list of safe foods.

Tell me about your calendar. Classes start the day after Labor Day and continue through late May. We follow Guilford County Schools Calendar.

When may I visit and/or register? Families are welcome to visit anytime throughout the year. An appointment is not necessary, but calling ahead will ensure the class you are visiting is attending that particular day. Feel free to call us or email us anytime with questions. We look forward to talking with you!
